Sports Ground Status

We maintain the grounds to ensure that they stay in good playing condition. In order to do this, we may need to close them from time to time.  Please keep in mind major maintenance of grounds occurs each March and September, between sports seasons when grounds are closed.

This ‘rewilding’ project is designed to do exactly that and we look forward to sharing more on this project and the park as it grows.

Event Notification & Hire Application

For events such as regional shows, music festivals, charity events, or community feasts, the Event Notification & Facilities Hire Application must be submitted to the Council at least three months before the event date for events run on Council owned & operated facilities/ property. Medium events typically attract 100 to 300 attendees, while major events involve 300 or more attendees. This form provides vital event details, required services, and any permits needed. For comprehensive event planning, organisers should refer to the Event Management Kit, which offers valuable guidance for running large, medium, and small events on Council property.

Event Notification & Facilities Hire Application

Notification for Use of Council-Owned Public Space & Property

For small events with 100 or fewer attendees held in public spaces, organizers must submit a Notification for Use of Council-Owned Public Space & Property form. Unlike event hire for larger gatherings, public spaces remain open to the general public during these small events. The form ensures compliance with safety protocols and insurance requirements. Public liability insurance is mandatory, and while the Council offers coverage for a fee, it does not extend to volunteers, stallholders, or performers, who must secure their own insurance.

Old Beach Dog Park at Lennox Park

The Old Beach Dog Park located at Lennox Park (Jetty Road) is now open. There are still some minor works to be completed but dog owners are now very welcome to visit and utilise the area.

For those who are new to fenced (off-lead) dog exercise areas, there are some useful tips/rules located on signage at the park, to make sure it is an enjoyable experience for everyone. Please keep in mind the access near the Jetty Road end will not be complete until end of Feb/early March 2020 but the other two access points are complete.

Although Old Beach is Brighton Council’s first fenced, off-lead dog exercise area, other future off-lead areas will include:

  • Eddington Street, Bridgewater as part of the staged Bridgewater Parkland development.
  • Brighton/Pontville – area yet to be identified.
